Pre-Sailing trip 2006

September 15th, 2006 · Keine Kommentare

Presail06BPresail06ANext week on Monday morning at 5 a.m. a large group of 9th year students, their teachers as well as additional staff will leave for the Ijsselmeer (Ijsselmeer is Dutch and this name is used in German and English too). The Ijsselmeer is a shallow freshwater lake in the northern and central Netherlands. The travellers from KAS Wenden will spend one week aboard a traditional sailing ship. To prepare for the sailing trip they got black T-shirts bearing a logo on the front and „Segeltörn 2006“ (sailing trip 2006) on the back. Yesterday they went shopping at a local supermarket to buy food for the first day(s). Some of it is stored in a freezer of the school kitchen till Monday morning. On Monday morning everything will be stowed into the storage space of the coaches. Food will be prepared by the students themselves in the galley. On the first day they will get to know their ship and skipper and move into their cabins. They will also be taught the basics of being a sailor. Each of them will be assigned some form of job or duty. In the last week of September we shall hear what their trip was like. One thing we already know for sure – they will have a great adventure.
